aside from the grotesque grammar, the question is valid. where am I at? rather, where have I been? I know I have been silent of late, but it is not from a lack of interest or activity, just laziness that sets in every once in a while. well, I have some interesting news to share. no, not the fact that my baby machine of a sister is having a fourth son. I recently purchased a drum scanner for my film! I have priorities. here are some images from my trip out to sarasota from miami today to pick it up.

the weather couldn’t have been better, it was hot, but clear after a few days of thunderstorms.

it took about 3-4 hours to get there, and just one toll road: alligator alley, which looks a lot like savannah, actually. once I got there I hooked up with the guy I bought it from off ebay.

then I headed back home. halfway back I hit bad weather, which stayed the entire trip back.

but I got home with my scanner!

it came with a few surprise accessories: two drums and a mounting station, a $4500 bonus!

I’m very excited! this scanner will scan 8×10 film at 4000 ppi true resolution. compare this to my epson 4990 which gives at best 1200 ppi with soft focus on the edges. this is easily an 8×10 foot print. that’s freakin’ awesome.

I’ll post some more images and some test results when I get it up and running.
