after a long hiatus, I have some new work to put up. this started over a year ago with a test shot and a conversation with jeremias during art basel. looking back at my thesis work, I began talking about the idea of the camera as the tool we use to view the world in a specific way. we slice a little rectangle out of the world, isolating it from the rest of the larger view. it was an idea I had in words, but not really in images. at this time I was looking at the current work of abalardo morell, really paying attention to how his “camera obscura” work went from a collection of images about found lenses, to a larger body using the pinhole to project an image inside a room. it was the evolution of his images that I took note of.

rather than start a new project that was completely different in concept to my old work, I wanted to let my work change into something else. using this idea of the camera as a tool to prevent the viewer from seeing anything other than “my” image, I have composed my image on the ground glass, then photographed the glass, and the surrounding elements to show how the camera was used, how elements I isolated may not be in the context the viewer would expect.

at the time I am writing this, I have only two images, and another two on the way. any feedback would be appreciated.
